Genomic testing across the NHS is provided through a single national testing network, made up of seven Hubs. Patient samples from the East Midlands or East of England will be analysed within NHS East Genomic Laboratory Hub.
Our Hub is based in Cambridge and draws together the expertise of:
- Cambridge University Hospitals
- Nottingham University Hospitals
- Leicester University Hospitals
The Hub provides all genetic and genomic testing services for more than 30 NHS Trusts across the East of England and East Midlands. It will allow clinicians to access testing for more than 500 conditions.
Consistent, centralised tests –for everyone
Genetic tests carried out by NHS East Genomic Laboratory Hub will be conducted in line with two National Genomic Test Directories: One for cancer tests and one for rare disease tests.
These two directories specify which genomic tests are commissioned by the NHS in England, the technology by which they are available, the patients who are eligible to access various tests, and the healthcare professionals who can order them.
